This National Progression Award (NPA) provides an overview of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) sector with a focus on human health. It develops knowledge & understanding of chemistry, physics and human health. It will also develop science practical skills.

Pupils can take Science NPA in every year S3-S6 and continue to make progress by attaining new qualifications based on their unique skills, interests and abilities.

None – a basic interest in science and a good work ethic is all that is needed.
(Science, Literacy and Numeracy is likely to be between levels 1 - 4)
what will you get?
You will achieve a mixture of science units and core skills units. The level of each unit will be determined by your ability, skills and participation in class activities and practical work. If you pass all 4 units at level 4 you will gain the National Progression Award (NPA ) in Science & Health at SCQF Level 4. By choosing science NPA you will continue to develop your scientific practical skills, knowledge of science in everyday life and safe working practices.

I chose this course because I need a qualification in science for my future life choices. I would recommend it to others because it is a good chance to get a taste of all sciences and I have enjoyed doing different experiments. I think this course is beneficial as you are getting to try all sciences and you can work at your own pace. You don’t have to worry about exams and you still get a qualification.

I chose this course because it sounded very interesting and enjoyable which it is. I have enjoyed this course because you don’t need to be stressed and there is no exam! There are unit tests throughout the whole year. I also enjoy it because it is creative and you do lots of practical experiments. The reason I picked this course was because I found Biology too hard and knew I would struggle with that. This course has been way more easier, more relaxed and fun and less stressed with no worries, no exams and you still get a qualification. All the topics are easy but challenging, it is different for everyone, but me and my class have loved it this year and we have learned so much stuff from every science.
